4 Remedy for a Blocked Toilet at Home

What do you do if your toilet is clogged and you are expecting a couple of visitors in less than two hours?

Two hours is hardly enough time to run to the store for toilet cleaners containing heavy chemicals, return home, and clean the toilet. Fortunately for busy people like you, there are substances you probably already have on hand that you can use to address your problem. Here are a few simple home solutions for unclogging your toilet.

  1. Baking Soda + Vinegar

If you enjoy baking and cooking, these two items are likely to be found in your kitchen cabinets.

Let’s try to reproduce the volcano effect from seventh grade. Remove some of the water from the basin to prevent the baking soda from becoming too saturated. In a mixing bowl, pour at least half of the box of soda, followed by the vinegar. Pour the vinegar slowly over the baking soda to avoid splashing yourself because it will sizzle a lot.

2. Dish Soap + Hot Water

These are the materials that are the simplest to obtain. Warm up a few bowls of water and a decent liquid soap. Make sure the water is not boiling when you pour it down the toilet, or your bowl may crack, and there will be no way to fix it.

To level out the build-up, pour the soap into the bowl. This will aid in the softening and passage of the items in your toilet through the Siphon. After that, pour the boiling water. When pouring, make sure the water container is around your waist so the force of the water can help drive the block down.

3. Bleach + Powdered Soap

In this procedure, you’ll use your laundry supplies, such as bleach and powdered soap, to clean your garments.

3–4 cups bleach should be poured into the dish. Add at least a cup of your usual powdered detergent soap after that. After waiting 10 minutes for the chemicals to activate, flush the toilet.

4. Bent Wire

If none of the other options listed above fail to address your problem, here is a tried-and-true approach for removing the obstruction.

Cut one side of a clothes wire and bend one end to make a clothes wire. Choose a clothes wire that is thin enough to be manipulated to remove the obstruction but sturdy enough to resist bending. You have two options: push the obstruction deeper into the Siphon or pull it out. I recommend that you take it out because it will make your task go faster and easier.
